Cody, my information is listed on the about me page. I do not claim to have an advanced scientific degree, but I don't think I have misrepresented anything in this post. As I replied to Danny, I did not disagree with any of the substantive points he made - I disagreed with his characterization of my post and of all environmental opposition to fracking as "hysteria." It's not. I do not and did not disagree with the point you are making, nor did I think my post said anything to the contrary. However, I reread it and noticed a bit of careless word choice that might have insinuated something along those lines; in response to your comment, I have edited it above.

I agree with both you and Danny that we need to develop guidelines and standards so that fewer failures occur. But that these failures can happen at all is problematic given what is at stake. I'm not talking about banning the practice, but - and this is where Danny and I part ways, I believe - I also think communities have a right to know when there is a voluntary, serious, and potentially irreversible risk to their drinking water.

I agree with both you and Danny that we need to develop guidelines and standards so that fewer failures occur. But that these failures can happen at all is problematic given what is at stake.
Jamie what’s your background? I have a Masters in Chemical Engineering with a concentration is water waste management. Danny is 100% correct. The fracking fluid does not leak into any water sources that far in the ground. Any contamination is from the steel/concert encasement at the start of the well.
